Levels 5 and 6 Vocabulary Activities

Online Vocabulary Practice:  Follow this link to find 38 "dictées"online! The author has used lists of prescribed vocab (England) to create a fun FREE programme to practise listening and spelling of French words.  Students can self test and the "Tic Tac Toe" activities are perfect for pair work and a challenge!  A useful link to share with your students for word learning and revision at this level.  BONUS!  Go to "télécharger" and you can download several Mots Cachés and Mots Croisés to print and give your class as follow up activities.    

Crosswords: Organised by topic, the crosswords from frenchteacher.net are all interactive online activities and provide great vocabulary reinforcement and writing revision, . Share this link with your students. Definitions appear as the number on the grid is clicked.  If help is required, the "Indice" button gives an extra letter.

Level 1 Vocabulary and Expressions

Julia Brown (Dilworth School) has created effective PPT presentations to teach and reinforce words and expressions containing the words from the Level 1 Vocabulary List.  The words and expressions, presented in alphabetical order, are attractively described by pictures and each presentation offers students the possibility to memorise and reinforce language in a novel way.

Object Pronouns with Céline Dion's "Mon Amie M'a Quittée"

Verna Morris (Dunstan High School) has created a resource based on Céline Dion's song Mon Ami M'a Quittée. Verna says it turns out to be great for reinforcing object pronouns and is not too difficult for year 11. The song is on youtube at

Passé Composé Gameboard

This gameboard designed and kindly shared by Rachel McDonald (South Otago High School) is great for students to practice the past tense in goups of up to 6.  They need the Board (download and print in A3 from below), dice and markers and decide the order of play to use a range of time locution.  Students will practice a range of verbs and conjugations.
