Languages Immersion Awards for Students

The Ministry of Education is offering up to 15 fully-funded Language Immersion Awards (LIAs) for travel in 2011 to New Zealand secondary school students who study the following languages and French in particular. Students will spend six months in a country where the language theystudy is spoken. They will gain understanding and skills in a real life context while living with a host family and going to a local school.

DELF Junior

The Alliances Françaises de Nouvelle Zélande have announced the launch in their habilitated centers of a new diploma, the DELF Junior.  Students of French (under 18) can gain a genuine French Language proficiency diploma, awarded and recognised by the French Ministry of Education.
The DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) Junior offers different diplomas:
the Basic User has two levels :A1 (Levels 3&4 NZC) A2 (Levels 5&6 NZC)
the Independent User has also two levels: B1 and B2 (Levels 7&8 NZC).

So, if you have ever sought to give your students the chance to show their motivation for the language and obtain a qualification either prior or in parallel to NCEA/IB/CIE, DELF Junior can be a terrific complementary asset!
