(Feb. 2010) is based on the exploration of 4 websites which provide the interactive resources to discover French speaking countries. This Unit of Work, intended to last a minimum of four sessions, has been put together to coincide with La Journée de la Francophonie (March 20 2010).
All links, skills involved, astep by step lesson plan and activities are provided.
Activity 1- Present one aspect of one French speaking city, based on TV5 apprendre.tv
Activity 2- Gather information from 1 of 4 quiz and produce a collage based on the questions and answers of the quiz (can be online, Glogster for instance)
Activity 3- Create your own quiz using the information gathered form Le Rallye X5 which presents 5 French speaking countries This can become a great interactive activity upon completion.
Activity 4- Study on French song and reuse its themes to write some lyrics.
Use the Ppt below to introduce French speaking countries as well as future tense. Students guess the name of the country from the pictures and give their answers using aller+future.

The three following worksheets, created by Noelene Taylor (Tauranga Girls College) are very useful for students to acquire, retain and practise prescribed L2 vocabulary related to the topic. Noelene's samples sentences give students confidence to build their own, and they work on giving and responding to advice, warnings and suggestions (7.2) with the Imperative practice activity.
