Webquests
A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web.
►Since 1996, San Diego State University has maintained a database of example WebQuests. This database is kept up to date and weeded out when a link goes bad (as their volunteer time permits). By visiting webquest.org you can find a small selection of excellent webquests designed to support the teaching of French as a language by placing it in a historical/ social context.
►A webquest is an interesting project for French classes or for independent studiers looking to spice up their self-instruction. The following project is perfect as a long-term activity for intermediate and advanced students, though it can also be adapted for beginners. Go to the generic Webquest Project Outline and find a list of suggested topics.
► Webquests with Downloadable and Printable Worksheets (in French). The topics covered include: TV (reviewing TV programmes), Sports (reading through Articles from L'Equipe), Shopping (carrying out a virtual visit of a Carrefour supermarket), Organising a Dinner Party etc.
►With the PPT Quiz below (France and its Special Features), students can search (with Google) for the correct answers and write a few lines about each feature (geographical and historical). Make sure you turn the sound on as to check the answers!
